This company offers the customer the ability to build their own car breakdown insurance levels of cover according to their circumstances. Cover options include vehicle based, which covers the car for a breakdown regardless of who is driving, personal, which will cover you for a breakdown in any car whether you are the driver or passenger and joint personal, which allows another named member of your household to enjoy the same car breakdown insurance benefits as personal.

Under this company's Rescue product you are covered for roadside breakdown assistance occurring in the UK and the Republic of Ireland providing your car is at least a quarter of a mile from your home when a breakdown occurs. If the car can’t be fixed at the roadside, they will transport the car and up to seven passengers to either your preferred destination within a 10 mile radius or a nearby garage. If the car needs to be left at the garage for breakdown repairs, Norwich Union will reimburse you for taxi fares up to 20 miles. The following options can be also added to this car breakdown insurance cover, these include Recovery, Recovery at home, and onward travel and European cover.

The Recovery level of breakdown insurance cover offers transportation of your vehicle and up to seven passengers to your home or specified destination anywhere in the UK for incidents occurring in the UK only. If you are taken ill and no other drivers are available recovery is available. However, some form of medical certificate is required. The following options can also be added to this type of breakdown insurance cover; these include at home, onward travel and European cover.

Annual European car breakdown cover is also available and covers you in the event you are stranded on a foreign public road, through a breakdown, road traffic accident or vandalism. Other benefits include cover if your car is broken into and has damaged locks or windows, a replacement driver if you are the only insured qualified driver and are unable to drive, accidental damage to your tent, the return of your car to the UK if your vehicle is damaged and has to be left behind, or cover if your vehicle has to be scrapped.
