Norwich Union Confirms Aviva Name Change
As From the 1st June 2009 Norwich Union the UK’s biggest Insurer officially becomes Aviva. Why? The Company feels that a shorter name is more memorable and encompasses 40 different trading names around the world.
What does the mean for existing Norwich Union Car Insurance customers? According to Aviva, everything stays the same, which means the level of cover and insurance policy conditions. All that differs is for those who pay their premiums by monthly direct debt the name on the direct debit changes to Aviva which is automatic. All new marketing literature, claims and policy documentation will also change.
The switch of name to Aviva means the end of the use of the name Norwich Union which was first used in 1797. Despite the mergers of Commercial Union and General Accident in recent decades the name still survived.
Today Aviva is the fifth largest insurance, savings and investments
provider in the in the world, therefore, the driving force behind the
name change is the company’s attempt to build a global instantly
recognisable brand.
