Information for car owners interested in getting an insurance quote direct from Barclays

Barclays Bank is one of the biggest financial institutions in the UK and is regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Last year saw the launch of several insurance products designed to appeal to the mass market.

The bank’s motor insurance product is underwritten by the Gresham Company ltd of Surrey Street in Norwich and offers both comprehensive and third party fire cover. Just like its competitors, Barclays will not provide you with a car insurance quote unless you fit their eligibility criteria. For instance, you must be the registered owner of the vehicle, the main driver, hold a valid driving license and be a UK resident. Both you and any drivers to be insured must be aged 75 or less and have not had more than 1 claim in the last four years. There are of course other eligibility criteria, therefore, please consult the Barclays site for full details.

Key features of Barclay’s comprehensive car insurance policies include personal injury benefits, medical expenses for anyone injured in your vehicle up to stated limits and cover for personal belongings. Other benefits include car windscreen repair and replacement, new motor vehicle replacement, replacement locks and accident recovery combined with an approved repair service.

In common with other car insurance company’s policies, Barclays will allow you to add optional extras such as legal expenses cover, a courtesy car if your vehicle is in the garage receiving repairs following an accident, driving abroad cover, protected no claims bonus, breakdown insurance, and increased personal injury limits.

Please note, conditions will apply for all of the UK car insurance products mentioned above, please contact the company concerned for more information.
