This car insurance company is a direct-to-customer element of Allianz Cornhill which, in turn, is the UK arm of the Allianz worldwide group of companies with over 60 million customers in more than 70 countries.

In the UK car insurance market, the company have specialised in providing cover to older drivers over the age of 50 for many years and reflect the lower insurance claims record of this age range of car drivers in the premiums charged.

They will provide fully comprehensive insurance cover, (an exception is laid up protection where the car is locked in a garage for a period of at least 28 days where fire theft and accidental damage cover may be provided).

The company should offer a car insurance quote provided the main driver is 50 years old or over, resident in England, Scotland or Wales (for Northern Ireland, car insurance is available through their sister company, First Rate Direct - see below). The car must be right-hand drive, unmodified and registered in the UK; no vans or commercial vehicles are accepted. The current maximum car value is £50,000.

The main driver and all other drivers must have no connection with the following businesses or professions; entertainment industry, fashion industry, foreign service or diplomatic personnel, gambling industry, general dealers, market traders, mini-cab drivers, professional sports, salvage or scrap merchants, or are not unemployed.

Up to 2 additional named car drivers can be added to the insurance policy. It is important to note that persons between 17 and 24 years old attract additional excesses for accidental damage.

If you decide to pay your car insurance premium over 12 monthly payments, there is no interest charge unlike some other companies.

No-claim discount can be carried forward from your previous insurer.

If an insurance claim is necessary, there is a ‘no form’ claims line operational 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 3pm Saturday, which you should contact as soon as possible following an incident. If, following an accident, the car is unsafe to drive, there is a freephone 24 hour emergency control centre that will arrange for passengers to be taken home or to the original destination, and the car to be transported to a garage. In the case of approved car repairers all insurance work carried out is fully guaranteed for two years and a free courtesy car is provided whilst insurance repairs are being carried out. Legal Protection* is included as standard.

Car sharing* is written into the insurance policy and is totally acceptable, for social or similar purposes, provided there is no profit being made from any financial arrangements, it is not part of a business and the car can carry no more than 8 people.

Insurance cover for foreign travel within the Territorial Limits* is included in the standard premium.

Medical expenses* cover for treatment of the car driver and passengers following an accident involving your vehicle, up to £200 per person, and Injury Benefits* insurance cover for driver or spouse of up to £3000 lump sum are payable out in the event of death, loss of sight in one or both eyes or loss of one or more limbs because of a car accident.
