Prudential Car Insurance

Prudential car insurance is just one product offered by the Pru. They were established in 1848 and have developed into a leading international financial services company whose services are enjoyed by some 16 million customers worldwide and which employs some 22,500 employees. Their product range includes a full range of insurance for cars, and other financial products. In 1998 they launched Egg, their online financial services company. Their car insurancepolicies are underwritten by Churchill Insurance Co Ltd.

You should be able to get an online car insurance quote provided you are resident in and the vehicle is kept in the UK. All car drivers must be between 21 and 75 years old at the beginning of the insurance policy. All drivers must have held a full UK driving licence for at least 1 year and be allowed to drive by the DVLA, and have been permanently resident in the UK for at least 5 years. All drivers must not have had car insurance cancelled, declined, voided or special terms imposed.

The vehicle must be owned and kept by the policyholder or their legally married spouse at their address. It must be a right hand drive model and it must not be modified*. The company will not consider car insurance for vehicles that have been or will not be imported from another country.

Online, they will offer fully comprehensive or third party fire and theft cover to suit your purposes, which are available via the internet with a 5% discount if you are a first time car insurance purchaser with them.

No-claim discount can be carried forward* from your previous insurance company or from use of a company car.

They operate a 24 hour claims helpline, provides advice and links to their Approved Car Repairers Claims Legal Assistance Service*, which is available as an optional extra to assist if you have an accident that's not your fault by working on your behalf to recover things not covered by your car insurance policy, for example, excess, personal injury and loss of earnings.

The company will provide a free replacement vehicle if you have comprehensive car insurance and use an approved repairer for repair of your car following loss or damage insured by your policy. The insurance of the replacement car is under your own policy and you should check the level of cover if this becomes applicable.

Car sharing is written into the policy and the receipt of contributions in respect of the carriage of passengers for social or similar purposes, as part of a car sharing arrangement, will be acceptable provided that the car is not constructed or adapted to carry more than eight passengers excluding the driver, the passengers are not being carried in the course of a business of carrying passengers and the total contributions received for the journey do not result in profit.

With the standard insurance policy foreign cover is restricted to only the minimum required by law in the E.U. member countries and in certain other countries and there is no cover for loss or damage to your car. The insurance cover you have applies only to the territorial limits* specified in the policy under definitions.

Prudential will pay medical expenses* of up to £200 for each person injured if your car is involved in an accident.
