RAC plc was created in September 2002 and replaced the name of Lex Service plc who purchased RAC Motoring Services in 1999. These car insurance brokers are a very famous organisation in the motoring world and can trace their history back to 1897.

In common with many other modern motoring companies they have diversified into other related activities designed to meet the needs of the motorist. The car insurance arm is “RAC Insure” which is the trading name of the Motoring Services. Rather like a car insurance broker they act as an intermediary and finds the most competitive quotations from its panel of chosen companies. All car insurance policies purchased from these brokers are handled by themselves and BDML Connect Ltd. Both companies are intermediary members of General Insurance Standards Council.

Car insurance quotes are valid for up to 30 days and product benefits include, European cover for up to 3 months, cover for up to 4 additional named car drivers, personal belongings cover up to £100, 24 hour insurance claims notification line and 24 hour legal helpline.

Existing members can enjoy additional benefits including, increased claims limit under Motor Legal Protection, £100,000 per claim for members, increased personal belongings cover from £100 to £200, cover for unexpired portion of vehicle excise license (if this cannot be recovered following the loss of your car), and £750 for damage caused by fire to your private garage at your usual residential address provided the garage is not insured elsewhere.
