Car Insurance Group - Brit Holdings

This group is a FTSE 250 company listed on the London Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of £720.8m as at 27 September 2004. Other companies that the group either own or hold significant numbers of shares in include Brit Syndicates Ltd, RI3K, ebix.com and Equity Partnership Ltd. The group is primarily based in London; however, it also has offices in Bristol, Darlington, Glasgow, and Mansfield. Brit Insurance Ilford office is where the car underwriting headquarters is based.

Car insurance has been underwritten by this group since the 1930’s albeit under the auspices of three different Lloyds syndicates; Paladin, Anchor and RB Motor Policies who have since combined to create Wren Motor Policies at Lloyds in 1994. Most of Wren Motor has now merged with Brit Insurance Ltd.

The group operates in-house bespoke motor underwriting capabilities in addition to mainstream claims handling functions. Four different car insurance markets are catered for; these include - motor fleet insurance for public quoted companies (including HSBC Bank); private car and commercial vehicle insurance; specialist motor insurance risks comprising of the motor trade; London taxis and mini cab fleets, and an overseas account.
