This group is a broker only company initially operated as a Lloyds syndicate known as Corinthian Policies at Lloyds. It began trading in 1964 and has only offered car insurance policies. The syndicate was acquired by HSBC in 1996. HSBC applied successfully to establish Corinthian as an insurance company not just a Lloyds syndicate. The group operate underwriting plans for each major class of business and apart from the Corinthian Plan facility, which automatically provides access to the Milestone and Regency plans, all of the other plans have to be obtained on an individual basis. Wherever possible, the group grant exclusivity of area and product to assist the development of the account.

The group operates a number of plans/lines of insurance under different trading names. These include;

1. Doric: Car insurance for all women drivers aged 17 and over. Parents may be included with no reduction in the 'Insured Only Driving' discount. Hot hatches are generally acceptable for drivers aged 21 and over. Many foreign cars are also down grouped where non-comprehensive insurance cover is required. 'Insured & Spouse' discount is available, plus introductory discounts. (Male additional drivers may be included, subject to an acceptable driving record and occupation).

2. Regency: All business must attract a premium loading from an easy to follow guide or car insurance quote system due to the moral hazard aspect of the risk, such as an accident or conviction record or an adverse occupation. The minimum age of acceptance for proposers and additional drivers is 25.This facility does not attract risks with an obvious physical hazard, such as high performance cars. Insurance policies are designed mainly for non-comprehensive cover.
