Pass Plus Driving Scheme

Important Information for young drivers, students, and older drivers who have just passed their driving test

The Pass Plus scheme is a new initiative introduced by the UK Government to help reduce the number of car accidents and deaths on the road involving young drivers and ordinary road users. The purpose is to encourage young drivers, students, and older drivers who have recently passed their driving test to gain additional valuable experience by taking a specifically designed course.

Pass Plus driving courses have been designed by the Driving Standards Agency, the driving instruction industry, and UK car insurance companies. The course consists of six practical modules to help improve driving skills in different situations that drivers may find themselves in, such as bad weather, motorways, rural roads and night time driving.

The scheme is only open to drivers within one year of passing their driving test. For those who were nervous when taking their driving test, there is the reassurance that there is no test at the end of the course. Instead, driving is assessed as you complete each module to ensure you reach the standard required for each competency.

In addition to becoming a better driver, the other great incentive to take the course is that once completed successfully, you may be eligible to obtain additional discounts from participating car insurance companies who recognise this scheme.
