Information about car insurance cover designed to protect motorists from uninsured driver accidents

As reported in our news article in April 2006, the scourge of uninsured drivers continues to make headlines, not least because the estimated numbers breaking the law is increasing.

There is some relief for law abiding motorists who are worried about car accidents caused by uninsured drivers happening to them. Until recently, if an uninsured driver was at fault in a car accident, it was likely that your car insurance company would penalise you by taking away your no claim discount, if unprotected, and asking you pay the excess if this applied.

To remove the uncertainty of this scenario happening to you, Direct Line are one of the first insurance companies to cover you if you are hit by an uninsured driver and it is proven beyond doubt that the uninsured driver was at fault.

There are of course terms and conditions that have to met in order to successfully protect your Direct Line no claims bonus and excess, however, it is a sign of the times that major insurance companies are now offering this piece of mind to customers who buy their products.
